DEBATE SOCIETY

Parliamentary Debate

Parliamentary Style Debates is globally recognized as one of the oldest and most prestigious formats of public speaking. Our programme at SAGE is modeled upon training students under the World Schools Debating Championship Rules. Students are called upon to develop incisive communication skills, reflecting upon a multi-faceted understanding of disciplines as diverse as economics, literature, governance, international relations and more. Equipped with strong critical thinking skills, students acquire the confidence to engage in necessary conversations with confidence.

English Parliamentary Debate

The English Parliamentary Debate programme focuses on preparing students for competitive tournaments held both nationally and internationally. Divided into teams of three to five each, students are given a motion impromptu, and are trained to develop thorough arguments during an hour of preparation time. At the end of the hour students engage in a competitive debate, employing effective analysis, excellent rhetoric, and exceptional teamwork to achieve victory.

Urdu Parliamentary Debate

The Urdu Parliamentary Programme seeks to celebrate and preserve our rich heritage, and ensure that our students develop the necessary eloquence to communicate effectively in our national language. At SAGE, pride in our identity as Pakistanis is a cornerstone of our values, and our students are given the tools to express their opinions holistically.

Model United Nations

The Model United Nations format of public speaking simulates the operations of the United Nations. Assigned countries to represent, students dissect global agendas – engaging in diplomacy to form blocs, negotiating compromises, and displaying the strength of character to emerge as leaders in closely contested debates. The Model UN Programme at SAGE is aimed at equipping students with the ability to conduct in-depth research, develop leadership skills, and execute speeches in front of large audiences with excellence. Our programme seeks to develop globally conscientious citizens, capable of enacting change.

Leadership

Model UN emphasizes learning how to be a leader. Students learn to lead groups, build trust, collaborate with others, and represent their positions with confidence, ethics, and responsibility.

Global perspective

Across committees, students engage with education, welfare, development, global conflict, and peacekeeping, building a broader worldview and the knowledge, awareness, and agency to help drive meaningful change.

Research

The Model UN programme strengthens research and writing skills as students study geopolitical issues, It also develops strong writing skills as students draft resolutions and working papers with collaborative solutions.

Diplomacy

Students develop negotiation skills, manage disagreements, and work toward practical solutions for complex social and global issues.

Public Speaking

At SAGE, public speaking is not treated as an extra activity, but as an essential part of learning. Built into the curriculum from Grade 1 till O-Levels, the programme helps every student find their voice, build confidence, and develop the ability to express ideas clearly in front of others. By developing these skills from an early stage, students are prepared not only for school, but also for undergraduate studies, professional life, and the wider challenges of the modern world.
